Understanding Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), Trauma, and Trauma-Informed Practice

Aim of the training:

This training aims to provide a clear and concise overview of the physiological and psychological impact of Trauma; Adverse Childhood Experiences and their impact; and understanding and reflecting on Trauma-informed approaches in different contexts. It is designed for all colleagues working in health, social care, and the voluntary and community sector organisations in City & Hackney. It is particularly valuable for anyone working directly with families, young people, and vulnerable adults, and/or anyone who may have experienced trauma.

 

By the end of the training, participants will:

  • Understand trauma i.e., what it is and how it affects people, and in particular, Adverse Childhood Experiences,
  • Have explored the impact of trauma i.e., how our body responds and the impact it can have on our wellbeing,
  • Understand what Trauma-Informed approaches look like on an individual and on a system level,
  • Appreciate the impact of secondary trauma and have had the opportunity to reflect on the importance of self-care, and
  • Have been provided with a reflective space on what Trauma-Informed practice looks like/could look like within their setting.
